Geography: Bozeman is surrounded by the Gallatin National Forest
in the heart of the Gallatin Valley. The Gallatin Mountain Range
lies south of town, the Bridger Mountains to the northeast, and the Belt
Mountains to the north. Bozeman is close to many of Montana famous blue
ribbon trout streams including the Yellowstone, Missouri, Gallatin, and
the Madison River.
Transportation: Bozeman is located along Interstate 90 between
Belgrade and Livingston. Bozeman is approximately 89 miles north of
West Yellowstone. Just west of Bozeman is the Gallatin Field
Airport.
Weather: Average high temperature in the summer ranges
from 71° in June, 81° in July, and 80° in August, with average lows in the
upper 40s to low 50s. May and June usually have the most rainfall
with an average of 2.88 inches. The average high temperature in the winter
ranges from 34° in December, 31° in January, and 35° in February, with
average lows in the mid teens. The average snowfall in December and
January is 12 inches.
