Geography: Whitefish Lake is 7 miles long, 2.5 miles wide and 222 feet deep. It is fed by Swift Creek, Lazy Creek, and Hellroaring Creek.  Big Mountain summit elevation is 7000 ft and base elevation is 4500 ft. Located at the base of Big Mountain in the Whitefish Mountains.

Transportation: Whitefish is located at the northern end of the Flathead Valley approximately 15 miles north of Kalispell on Hwy 93.   Glacier International Airport is about 14 miles away between Kalispell and Columbia Falls on Hwy 2 . Amtrak's  train depot in Whitefish is one of the busiest in the Northwest, Amtrak offers eastbound and westbound service from Seattle/Portland and Chicago. 

Weather: Average high temperature in the summer ranges from 71° in June, 81° in July, and 81° in August, with average lows in the high 40s.  June usually has the most rainfall with an average of 3.08 inches. The average high temperature in the winter ranges from 31° in December, 30° in January, and 35° in February, with average lows in the upper teens.  The average snowfall in December and January is 21 inches.
