Geography: Absarokee is located in the foothills of the Beartooth Mountains of Custer National Forest. The Stillwater River flows through town, and meets the Yellowstone north of town near Columbus.

Transportation: Absarokee is located on Highway 78 at the intersection of Highway 420. Hwy 78 meets  Hwy 212 and follows the famed Beartooth Scenic Byway into Yellowstone National Park.
