Geography: Miles City is located in southeastern Montana along
the Yellowstone River. The Tongue River flows along the western edge of
town where it runs into the Yellowstone River. The Powder River
flows east of town through Custer County. This area is largely grassland
and prairie.
Transportation:
Miles City Airport is a small public airport located two miles northwest
of town along highway 59. Full airline service is located
approximately 191 miles away in Billings at Billings Logan International
Airport. Miles City is located on Interstate 94 near the
intersection of highway 12.
Weather: Average high temperature in the summer ranges
from 80° in June, 89° in July, and 87° in August, with average lows in the
mid to high 50s. June usually has the most rainfall with an average
of 2.57 inches. The average high temperature in the winter ranges from 33°
in December, 27° in January, and 32° in February, with average lows in the
