Geography: Nearly completely surrounded by the Bitterroot National Forest including the Sapphire Mountains to the east and the Bitterroot Mountains to the west.   Hamilton is bordered on the west by the Bitterroot River.

Transportation: Located along Highway 93 approximately 45 miles south of Missoula, and 47 miles from the Idaho border.

Weather:   Average high temperature in the summer ranges from 75° in June, 85° in July, and 83° in August, with average lows in the upper 40s. June usually has the most rainfall with an average of 1.7 inches. The average high temperature in the winter ranges from 36° in December, 35° in January, and 40° in February, with average lows in the high teens. The average snowfall per month in December and January is 7.5 inches.
