Geography: The Clark Fork River flows through Missoula and is
fed by the Bitterroot River on the southwest edge of town; the Blackfoot
River meets the Clark Fork east of town. Missoula is surrounded by
Lolo National Forest. The Rattlesnake Wilderness Area begins at the edge
of town. The Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness is south of town, and the
Pintler Mountains and the Mission Mountains are within an hour drive of
Missoula.
Transportation: Missoula is located along Interstate 90 in
northwest Montana. Highway 93 runs north toward Glacier National Park.
Missoula has it's own International Airport.
Weather: Average high temperature in the summer
ranges from 74° in June, 84° in July, and 83° in August, with average lows
in the mid to upper 40s. June usually has the most rainfall with an
average of 1.9 inches. The average high temperature in the winter ranges
from 31° in December, 30° in January, and 37° in February, with average
lows in the high teens. The average snowfall per month in December and
January is 11.5 inches.
